About
We are Mind and Matter: Clinical and Neuropsychology Services, a psychology practice established in 2012. We offer collaborative and supportive assessments and therapy for adults and older adults.
We understand the duality of people considering their thoughts, feelings, and emotions (‘the mind’) as distinct from their neurotype or changes due to injury or neurological processes (‘the brain’).
The mind and the matter are one and the same.
Any assessment, change or recovery process aims to respect and harness both. Our approach is built upon collaborative understanding and the drive to aid in recovery. Evidence-based, best-practice approaches are used to lead to meaningful change to empower you to take change of your life again.
MISSION
At Mind and Matter Psychology, our mission is to understand your unique brain, rebuild hope, and find pathways to valued living through collaborative evidence-based neuropsychological assessments and tailored individual psychotherapy.
About Dr Aimee Velnoweth
Aimee is a registered, dual endorsed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist with over 15 years of experience in providing psychological therapy and conducting neuropsychological assessments.
She has worked across the public and private sectors in diverse areas ranging from community mental health, rehabilitation, to outpatient and acute hospital settings.
Initially beginning her career as an officer in the Navy, Aimee found psychology to be her true calling.
Aimee has lived experience of ongoing medical limitations which impact your sense of self and physical abilities as well as requiring rehabilitation.
Outside of her therapeutic work, Aimee is a Board-Approved Supervisor and lectures in post-graduate programs at a number of Universities. Aimee has extensive experience creating and delivering a range of professional development material and opportunities for other clinicians.
The family juggling act keeps Aimee busy outside of work. Her athletic ‘prowess’ extends only to swimming in a straight line in the ocean. Cats over dogs. Dad-joke connoisseur.
“Being a dual-endorsed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist, I most enjoy working at the intersection of the brain and the mind”.
— Dr Aimee Velnoweth, Practice Principal
